My name is Barbara and I am Director of Guardian First Aid Training. I'd like to take this opportunity of a guest post on The Office Genie blog to tell you about an important drop-in event I will be holding very soon especially to do with back care ...

come to our drop-in sessions and find out all you need to know about back care

come to our drop-in sessions and find out all you need to know about back care

When I was thirteen I slipped in the bath and injured my back. It "niggled" me for the next 20 years. Then, in my late thirties, I had a really bad accident when I drove a rented motorcycle over a cliff on the Greek Island of Zakythos! That pretty much finished off my back as well as my career in the Civil Service.

What saved my life in the "Greek Tragedy" was my knowledge of First Aid. I was able to instruct the people who stopped to help me in exactly what to do to get me the medical attention I needed. That experience then prompted me to set up in business as a First Aid Training Company once I had eventually recovered from the accident. My goal in life is to teach other people the skills they need to help people in trouble.

Apart from my family and my business, I have one other love in my life and that is my small herd of Siamese cats. I am in the process of registering as a breeder. This has resulted in further interest in back care. Try getting a cat to have her kittens at a convenient height so that your back doesn't kill you while you are keeping her company and you'll see that she won't listen to you. She'll choose where she gives birth, not you. It is also impossible to clean out a kittening pen without bending over double and groaning like someone who is at least twice my age. I have leant that caring for your back is very important. Back pain can be extremely debilitating.

As a result of this, I feel passionate about ensuring that individuals and businesses get the right information about caring for backs. So I decided to run a FREE drop-in session for individuals and business people to come along so that they could ask all the questions that they want to.

We will have experts there who will be offering advice and guidance. If you are interested in a free session then please follow this link for more information.

I look forward to seeing you there, and if you need any further advice, or require some First Aid training then please do get in touch on +44 (0) 845 873 6652.

Best Wishes

PS: If anyone is looking for a drop dead gorgeous Siamese kitten then you need look no further. OK, they still look a bit like hairless little rats but they have potential!

More about Barbara Cherryman ...

My life changing event took place on Zakynthos and I am extremely grateful for the lessons it taught me. I now work with people instead of papers (I worked for HM Treasury and the Parliamentary Ombudsman amongst others). I am now doing something that I feel passionate about and that I feel really makes a difference. Running your own business is a lot like walking a tightrope juggling half a dozen hedgehogs but I wouldnt have it any other way.
