Genies R Green

Lessening your impact ...

Posted by Jacqui Frost on 05/10/2011

Those of you who know me well will understand that I picked the Genie colours early on and they have always been Pink and Purple. I know it doesn't really fit in with the colour scheme but one of The Office Genie colours is also Green ...

With all the talk of environmental issues in recent years there has been a lot of talk about going Green. I know that I run the risk of being dismissed as jumping onto the Green bandwagon, but I firmly believe that one of our services is to reduce the carbon footprint of our clients. How?

  • Fewer cars on the road ...

Well I'll start by saying that we have 8 Genies who provide over 100 clients with receptionist/pa, book keeping and other admin support services. If each of those companies had just one other member of staff working even 3 days a week then that would be 300 more return trips probably made by car each week.

  • Paperless working ...

Because we work remotely for our clients there is less paper involved. We take messages and text or email them to our clients, where someone in the office would write you a note. We send our invoices by email rather than posting them. We send out brochures and information on behalf of our clients by PDF and email where possible. We also recycle any paper that we do use in the office.

  • Consuming less energy ...

Because our Genies work for a multitude of clients from the one building, we only light and heat a couple of rooms. Also we only run computers and phones for 8 Genies who share the use of a single printer, fax, kettle and fridge, rather than over 100 clients using extra computers, phones and rooms.

So not only do we save our clients the added hassle and cost of hiring staff, we also save them the expense on equipment and rising utility bills. The by product of this centralisation of resources, is that we reduce the overall environmental impact of those businesses.

Be warned, here at Genie Towers we are quite passionate about being green, however, I'll save my tips for a Greener Office to share with you another time!!
